Comfortably reclining in my chair, warm and snug with a fire going and a hot drink I look out my window and the perfect new post subject leaps into my mind. How do we keep our skin dewy and moist looking throughout the howling maelstrom of deep winter?
Not only our lips are affected. Dry skin occurs all over the body during the colder months so I’m going to share with you a few new products I’ve tried recently that really WORK. If you are bouncing back and forth between climates while enjoying some southern vacation destinations, dry skin can be a frustrating problem. Sure you can keep it covered up for the most part in the northern climes but the minute you hit the sand your alligator skin calves are stampeding horrified onlookers to the other end of the beach. Yes, you can hide in the water…but sooner or later you have to ditch your cover up. Read on for more dry skin solutions.
1. Norwex Hand Cream. Number one on my list. A light, quick absorbing and non greasy formula that smells deliciously like orange creamsicles, your worst dry hands are instantly soothed and baby soft and STAY that way for hours. Norwex products are available only through authorized distributors. They are an environmentally friendly line with some truly amazing products for the house and family. Purchase Norwex products here you will be very impressed.
2. Arbonne Aromassentials Sea Salt Scrub. This fantastic scented scrub contains lemon, lemongrass and orange oils. I use it all over my body. Banishes crepey skin instantly for hours. The perfect answer to ‘gator legs’ this scrub leaves you smooth with no greasiness. A Swiss company, Arbonne products are available through authorized distributors here . This is definitely a ‘do not leave home without it’ vacation must. You can get your glow on poolside and no one will know your secret…until you tell them of course.
3. Arbonne Hydrating Body Lotion – Light and very absorbent. Wafting a delicate scent of oranges, Arbonne’s Body Lotion is a divine experience in total hydration. I love the silkiness of my skin after I use it.
4. Hair – if your hair gets dry during the winter months try picking up one of the various hair treatments available at your local drugstore. Either Moroccan Oil, Coconut Oil, Macademia Oil and Aloe Vera Repair. Used once or twice a week they hydrate your dry, flyaway hair and smooth static, leaving a dazzling shine. I also use the L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil line with the hair mask and Moroccan Oil spray to detangle and give a super soft finish that smooths frizzies.
5. Face. To combat winter dryness effectively, I use a moisturizing cleanser, a good day and eye cream and a serum and deep action cream at night. See my blog on skin care here. Update since that blog…I recently tried the L’Óreal Revitalift skin line. It hydrates deeply using hyaluronic acid to replenish moisture. A good buy for the money if you can’t afford the pricier brands.
When temperatures dip below zero, I use Lancôme Precious Cells Moisturizing Cleansing Foam, Ultimate Night Collection and the Absolue Premium fX Day Cream. I find it hydrates my skin deeply, preventing chapping and redness and leaves me fresh and glowing.
Norwex – If you want hydrated, supple skin in an all natural product line, try Norwex Naturally Timeless skin care featuring advanced phytotechnology that fades age spots and smooths to help hide wrinkles. Leaves skin soft and rejuvenated. Non greasy. Check out their environmentally sound products here.
Arbonne – I recently discovered this Swiss company through a friend of mine. Arbonne skin creams are delicious smelling and rich with botanical extracts and the latest anti aging moisturizers. Their product line is definitely worth investigating. Visit their site here.
Lips…I just recently found an Emu Oil Chapstick at the drugstore that is better than anything I’ve tried yet. A little pricier than some but my lips are soft and hydrated through the arctic air blasts and never gummy. The innovative applicator can be opened, applied and closed with just one thumb.

Fantastic advice!!! I’m going to try some of this stuff. Would be nice if I could get it at the airport, but probably not. Oh well! I am making notes on it, and will get it asap. LOVE your humour in presentation, as always!
